I needed to find out quickly about the pensions regime in Australia. Within hours of posting to the list, two advisers over there and one over here told me all I needed to know

Not only are the exchanges of information, or * where to find/go/place..* useful between professionals in the list, but the exchange of views on the understanding of the effect of recent changes to (anything), compliance and other matters unique (not having found any other E-Mail forum as easy to get onto or post to) or as open or candid. Those expert in one area can help out those who are not and sometimes receive help in return.

When you have a question that needs answering just when there is no-one else around, all the broker consultants have gone home and company helplines have closed - There is someone on the list, floating in cyberspace, ready with an answer."

I have used the list to gain answers to techie questions, find out about product and fund availability, called in an expert in another field to advise my client, crossed swords and conversed amicably with industry leaders and on the odd occasion just vented my spleen. Long live the list!

Finserv certainly seems to work. I re-posted my query yesterday and have about six solutions this morning, brilliant!

However much of a problem it seems to be, there will always be someone out there who has dealt with something very similar and can help.

The Finserv lists are a way of keeping in touch with the sentiment of other IFAs and an invaluable resource of sharing our collective knowledge.
